Baru, the fruit that reflects Brazilian Cerrado!

The baruzeiro is a very characteristic tree of the Brazilian Cerrado. It is one of the biome's guardian trees, which plays an important role in supporting the Cerrado. Its fruit, the baru, is protected by a resistant shell, which covers an almond with a flavor similar to peanuts with sensory qualities and rich in nutrients.

The species is found in several regions, including forests and savannahs in Central Brazil, in the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais and the Distrito Federal. Although in smaller numbers, baruzeiros can also be found in the following states: Maranhão, Tocantins, Pará, Rondônia, Bahia, Piauí and north of São Paulo.

Social responsibility, care and environmental preservation

Unfortunately, the baruzeiro is a species that is threatened by irresponsible logging. Concepta Ingredients works directly with several communities that harvest and sell its fruit with the aim of keeping the forest standing. More than purchasing the input at a fair and predictable price, we share our knowledge and commitment to promoting development for the approximately 500 families involved in the process.
